I was so excited to begin the process of collecting all the bits and bobs that make a house individual and homely. If you've read my previous post (New Home // New Inspirations) you will have seen all the research boards I put together for each room to start the process. So after almost 6 months in our little house here’s the fun bit, seeing the rooms come together and my research coming to life.

The Living room was the first to get finished and one of my favourites, with grey, white and black tones plus metallic hints to add a little warmth. Simplistic detailing, clean and crisp with clashing prints from stripes to checks and contrasting textures giving a cosy feel. My favourite pieces have to be the high pile rug that your feet just sink into and the faux fur throw, perfect for those lazy evening on the sofa….and of course the matching pouffe was an essential!

Accessorising was lots of fun from candles to plants and lighting, these Ikea Ranarp lamps are my all-time fave...I have the whole collection dotted about the house. Yes I'm obsessed. The gallery shelf made a great focal point to the room by gathering different prints and frames together. The newest additional to the room is the arm chair, mega comfy layered up with cushions finishing off the room nicely. Not to forget the GIANT bear Billy…who doesn't need a giant bear in their life?!

New Home // New Inspirations

So a few weeks ago Matt and I moved into our first home together which has been very exiting but explains why I have been off the radar recently....plus if you follow me on Instagram (@ktmillar) you will have noticed I also managed to squeeze in a trip with work to the far east slap bang in the middle of the whole moving process.

It really has been a crazy few weeks but I thought I'd share with you all some of the journey so far, starting at the beginning...the research stage. I'm forever on Pinterest finding inspirational images so I found this a great starting point for getting some design ideas for each room, adding to each pages as I've been inspired along the way when shopping, through magazines and from websites such as Instagram, Pinterest and Tumblr. These few pages have literally been like my bible after we got the keys from helping to pick the right colours to  selecting all the accessories...being organised made the whole process so much easier even if you do change you mind a little along the way.

Luckily for us our house is only a few years old so it was only really decorating to be done...the fun part and with help from family and friends it's great to see my ideas and inspirations coming to life! I never thought I would enjoy interior design as much as clothing but I have to admit it's a close contender! I think these few pages also prove like any fashion...you don't have to spend a fortune to create the look you're after, it's all about the research.

I'll keep you posted with the progression along the way...including some before and after snaps and also a video I have been putting together of the whole process.

I've tried to include where most of the items are from on each page, the majority are from a few of my favourite homeware websites/stores including --->
